WHAT’S A GICLEE?
Giclée (jhee-clay) - Derived from the french verb “gicler” meaning to squirt. The term giclee print typically connotes a higher elevation of digital ink jet
printmaking. Images are high resolution digital images printed with archival
quality inks onto art papers or canvas.
Once a final image is created and archived, additional reproductions can be made
with minimal effort and affordable cost. Gicl
ée prints are advantageous to artists and photographers who want the highest
quality art prints. Additionally they also can reproduce their art as needed,
as printing can be done on demand from the archived and approved final image.
Another tremendous advantage to Giclée printing is that artwork can be reproduced to almost any size and on various
media, giving the artist the ability to customize prints for a new look,
specific client or different size. The gicl
ée process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
Image permanence is a concern to artists and collectors. Atelier812 uses Endurachrome Dye Inks from ColorSpan which is very stable,
giving fade
& color shift resistance of 75 years on Arches watercolor paper under average
indoor light conditions. Visit
